T-Level Education and Early Years – Level 3
New for 2024
What’s it about?
- T level is equivalent to three A levels and is available to those aged 16 – 19.
- It is made up of 80% classroom work and 20% work placement.
- Level 3 qualification
- 2 Year course
- Includes 9 weeks minimum working with an employer on an industry placement (21 weeks if you take the Early Years Educator specialism).
Entry Requirements:
We would recommend a level 4 or equivalent at GCSE in English and mathematics, and a grade 4 GCSE in science.

Course Content:
- Understanding the Education and Early Years sector from ages 0 to 19 child development
- How to support children and young people’s education
- Safeguarding, health and safety and wellbeing
- Understanding and managing behaviour
- Observing and assessing children and young people
- Equality and diversity
- Special educational needs and disability
- English as an additional language
- Working with parents, carers and wider families
- Working with agencies and services that support children, families and carers
- Reflective practice and other forms of professional development
Options to Specialise
In addition to the core content, each student must choose one of the following specialisms:
- Early years educator
- Assisting teaching

- Nursery Worker
- Teaching Assistant
- Learning Mentor
- Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant
- Playworker
- Portage Home Visitor
- A related higher-level apprenticeship or degree course
