This week, The Canterbury Academy Trust held its first ever Community Week.
More than 1000 pupils aged from 4-15 have taken part in activities, which have seen them giving back to others through a variety of community actions.
Almost 5000 hours of community events have taken place over 4 days. These have included making snack boxes filled with sausage rolls, scones, biscuits, cakes and pastries, along with thank you letters, for our local blue light services; performing random acts of kindness around Canterbury town centre; revamping the residents’ garden at The Pilgrims Hospice; building raised vegetable beds for local pre-schools; beach cleans in Whitstable, Herne Bay, Deal and Dover and raising money to buy toys for sick children at Rainbow Ward at QEQM hospital.

They have loved the opportunity to make a difference to others and connect with people from all walks of life. Members of the community who have been on the receiving end of the good deeds have been so impressed by the week and all they’ve achieved.”

The school is already planning their 2020 Community Week and looking for partner organisations in the community who would be interested in working together in the future.
